Rosewood Needles

Filed under: Uncategorized — yarnbox @ 9:18 pm

Can you believe I have finished dealing with everything before 11pm! For those of you who have had an email conversation at 11pm will know that I will answer emails at any hour. But today – everything was done by 9pm.

For those who may be thinking I am incompetent and need to work till 11pm to finish everything – you are wrong. I have dedicated Lewis time every evening – when everything is shut off, emails, phones etc. It is often not until 8.30pm when he is fast asleep do I start up the laptop to answer emails and questions…

Tonight is nice – I have managed to start a piece of knitting… knitting for me is very rare these days… I have managed to use a pair of Rosewood needles with lovely Mirasol wool… see…

This is the Mirasol Lima design from Mirasol Book 1, I have stuck to the Horseraddish shade – but was also contemplating the lovely Rose Pink… let’s now time to see when I will have this piece finished.

Let’s Knit

Filed under: Uncategorized — yarnbox @ 7:12 pm

Has anyone see a copy of this month’s “Let’s Knit”? We have sponsored a competition with Lan’s lovely cupcakes on page 78. I have received lots of requests for patterns for them… I hope to have that later next week.

In the meanwhile I am working a newsletter to come out later today…

A new day…

Filed under: Uncategorized — yarnbox @ 8:56 am

After two rather hectic days of handing back Yarn Forward I hope everything will be completed by the weekend.

From this point forward I will really be able to focus on Yarn Box and take it to the next point.

I thank everyone for their kind messages of support – and I am slowing coming back together and no doubt you will see a notable difference in Yarn Box with more regular updates and contact from us going forwards. As some of you already know – some names are being reduced and dropped and I will also be looking to stock new names in the shop – so all suggestions are welcome. This is also the time to grab a bargain in the shop whilst I am doing this clear out and re-stock.

I am hoping I can send out a newsletter by the weekend – the distribution will be managed very carefully so – if you are not sure if you have signed up – please use the link on the right linking to the Yarn Box Club to subscribe and get your 10% discount code for all purchases along with ensuring you will get our newsletter with special offers for subscribers only.

All comments and suggestions about anything Yarn Box or otherwise will be much appreciated – please get in touch xx

Yarn Forward Magazine

Filed under: Uncategorized — yarnbox @ 8:19 am

My time with YF Mag has come to an abrupt end. It was a great experience working with Kerrie and Lou and I really have learnt a lot. Thank you girls xx I wish the magazine well going forwards and hope that it will go from strength to strength.

GCSE

Filed under: Uncategorized — yarnbox @ 4:37 pm

Can you remember when you did your GCSEs? For me it is a very long time ago. My sister Cassie is going through them now. It brings back horrible memories of cramming 13 subjects into your head, needed to plan time well and those awful am then the same pm sessions. Horrible – yes!

As a reward for her hard revision this Easter – Sam and I treated her to an iTouch. A wonderful little gadget which has music, films, photos, web, email etc etc… My joy from it is an attempt to make it a case… I started the project this time yesterday and it was done by noon today! I love these short 1 ball projects…

I used one ball of Debbie Bliss SoHo:

Crab Apple Tree

Filed under: Uncategorized — yarnbox @ 6:52 pm

Spring has sprung… look at this bonsai crab apple tree. This 16 year old tree has fully blossomed for the first time. This time last year we only have two flowers, but it has fully flowered this year.. It is said to be the tree of love…

I am half way through my two week holiday – it has gone by so quickly – one big decision has also been made this week whilst spending time with Lewis… I have given up the postbox role for Kerrie at HipKnits and also reducing my work with Yarn Forward to just subscriptions and postings. Having this week at home has shown me, how I prioritise and how Lewis is not first on the “to do” list, instead it has been yarn yarn and yarn… whilst spending time on the business and seeing great results is great – nothing can quite beat the time I have with the little monster! So no more Hipknits parcels from Jo or advertising calls for YF – but Yarn Box will still be full steam ahead!

Extreme Knitting Update

Filed under: Uncategorized — yarnbox @ 7:22 am

It took a LONG time to cast on and purl the first row – it took ages to find the ends to 22 balls of yarn! Quite a nightmare! Then managed to progress quite quickly to where we are now, roughly an hours work…

We will be back to update you when it is done! Hoprefully before the end of my two weeks at home!

A view from my window

Filed under: Uncategorized — yarnbox @ 9:22 am

This is the view I woke up to from my bedroom window…

I have often been asked why I gave up my Riverside apartment which was a ten minute walk away from the office, well – one is the arrival of Lewis, and then it is for a break from skyscrapers… this scenery is much preferred.

Mum’s Noro Blossom

Filed under: Uncategorized — yarnbox @ 9:11 am

Here is the complete Noro Blossom by nana:

Nana used 2 and a half balls of Noro Blossom shade 15.

It is perfect for Lewis – it is hard wearing, washable and warm. Great for toddlers and kids…
